2017 Black Friday Deals :: Canadian & International Shoppers

Happy Thanksgiving to U.S friends! As the years go by, I am glad to see more and more retailers in Canada and abroad, in the U.S., offer Black Friday deals to Canadian & international shoppers. Heck, my sister just told me that even my home country, Nigeria, is having Black Friday sales. I guess with the retail space becoming more and more competitive, retailers are forced to stretch their arms to reach as many consumers as they can. No complaints here.

I have put together a list of the Black Friday sales open to Canadian & other international buyers, relevant to the corporate lady. I’ll advise Canadian shoppers to be wary of possible exorbitant shipping costs, custom duties and foreign exchange conversions as these could essentially make the sale not worth it.

Baublebar – 35% off site with code VIP35; international shipping to Canada costs about $18, tariff and duties included. I adore Baublebar pieces and have treated myself to some of their items in the past. Currently, I have my eyes on this pair of earrings for everyday use.

Ann Taylor – I am actually quite shocked and a tad bit disappointed that Ann Taylor and her sister store, LOFT, are not offering Black Friday deals to Canadian and other international customers. If you have family/friends in the US, you can take advantage of their 50% off everything deal with code THANKFUL and ship your purchase to them. I mean, the offer on this poncho and this cardigan is too good to pass up. And how about these tweed shoes, guys?!

Asos- 30% off everything with code EPIC30; with FREE delivery to Canada!! Guys, this is huge. Custom duties & tariffs will be a killer nonetheless, but it is nice to have free shipping. Great opportunity to purchase their pleated midi skirt (they’re running low in stock unfortunately).

Banana Republic – 50% off everything, no code required. I have my eyes on this tartan plaid skirt.:) Since knee-lengths skirts are so hard to come by these days, I was so pleased when I saw it. Plus, it is kinda hard to say no to tartan plaid.

Express – 50% off everything online, no code required. However, note that all prices & payments (including international shipping costs) are in USD. I have come across rave reviews about this flirty dress. It comes in such rich colours and though it might not be appropriate for work due to its length, but will be perfect for the office holiday party.

J.Crew – 40% off select items for U.S. and Canada with code THANKU. I do not shop often at J.Crew due to its price point, but it might be worth to check and see if you can score  are great deals. This sheath dress looks lovely,…but is still pricey even after 40% off!

Zara- 30% off site wide on Friday Nov 24th ; no code required. Free shipping for orders over $50 (for Canadian & U.S buyers). I will be purchasing this pair of over-the-knee boots. I have had my eye on it for months now, but made the decision to wait till the Black Friday Sales. They fit perfectly around my thighs and the low/mid-heels make them very easy to walk in.

Winter Workwear :: Shift Dresses + Stockings

Shift Dress

In coping with wintertime and the frigid discomfort it brings, I am faced with the task of finding workwear that are sufficiently warm yet stylish. Introducing the shift dress; by description, a shift dress, is an uncomplicated looking dress, one that typically ends above/around the knee and has adequate room in the hips and waist area. All of which sounds like music to my ears.

Holiday Gift Ideas (for the Corporate Lady)

I caught the christmas cheer a little earlier this year, and I love it! I have neighbours and local grocery stores who bursted out their christmas decoration right after halloween to thank for it. In helping out with  the numerous holiday activities you have to handle .i.e. gift shopping, I have put together a gift guide of affordable items that every working lady (family member/friend/colleague/neighbour/your kids’ female teacher) will appreciate.

  1. Vince Camuto Tote: Sure, the trend these days is along the lines of petite-looking structured bags, but it is nice to have that an alternative in a tote like this for the day(s) you need to lug more between the office/school and home. These type bags also make for great travel hand luggages or beach or pool bags!
  2.  Kate Spade PJ Set: I don’t think a girl can have too much PJs! Regardless of the age of your receiver, PJs are such great gifts!
  3. Reversible Scarf: Scarves are such ubiquitous gifts. It is the go-to for when you are out of ideas; however, this reversible two-toned one adds an extra dimension scoring above a regular scarf. Checkered scarf like one are also beautiful and make great gifts.
  4. Suede Obi Belt: Oh, the Obi belt – so versatile and pairs beautifully well with everything – long blouses, skirts, dresses and pants.
  5. Baublebar Pearl Hoop Earrings: Such gorgeous earrings!  A unique combination of hoops and the traditional pearls.
  6. Snowflake Brooch: “No one below 50 wears a brooch” they say, but I completely disagree. See me rock mine here and here. I love brooches for their sophisticated simplicity.
  7. Baublebar Pyramid Spike Y-Chain: Minimalist necklaces were definitely my thing year. I love their simplicity and this one fits the bill. They also go nicely layered with this bar chain.
  8. S’Well Water Bottle: These S’Well bottles are all the rage now…they have been for a while, I was only recently introduced to them. I see why every lady wants one – according to the company, they keep cold drinks cold for up to 24 hours, and hot drinks hot for up to 12 hours. Perfect for carrying your morning smoothie or in my case, hot chocolate.
  9. Girl Boss (the book): Now, nothing compares to the gift of education, amiright?! This book is everything – a great entertaining, motivational and easy read that gave me the needed push to start this blog. I highly recommend it if you need the kick to begin any much thought about venture.

Have I left any item you think will make a great gift for the corporate lady? Kindly share it in the comments section!

Thanks for coming by!
